Security

Industrial strength security, all year round.

As you'd expect from a bank, we're 100% committed to protecting your security and privacy online. That's why we've put in place a number of steps to ensure we're doing everything we can to protect you. Not just for now, but always.

Find out how we protect your financial identity, your money, and what you can do to protect yourself by watching the UBank security video.

Keeping your personal details safe

Our online application is protected by tough 128-bit encryption. In a nutshell, this industrial strength security means that when you see the little padlock in your browser, information you're sending or receiving is protected from all forms of eavesdropping whilst in transit.

In addition to encrypting information shared in secure sections of our site, we've worked with VeriSign to be one of the first Australian banks to use Extended Validation SSL Certificates. These certificates help you to confirm you are on the legitimate UBank website, and not some imitation.

Reducing hoax/fraud/spam emails

Email is often the source of many attempts to defraud customers by obtaining personal information such as passwords. We're the first Australian bank to deploy Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM). This technology helps many email providers and ISPs to identify emails sent to you from UBank as legitimate and blocking/filtering emails that are not.

We do our bit. You do yours

Security is a two-way street. And as much as we'll protect you, there's a few things you can do to help protect yourself:

  • Never reply to emails from UBank that request personal details.
  • Where possible, always access the UBank website by typing ubank.com.au into your browser.
  • Never write down your secret question or answer, memorise it instead.
  • Try to minimise the use of public computers e.g. internet cafes, hotels and airports.
  • Keep your computer's security software including anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam and firewall products up to date.
  • Keep your operating systems up to date by ensuring that automatic updates are switched on and are installed when they become available.
  • Pause and think - be aware of email, Internet and telephone hoaxes and scams. If you are suspicious call us anytime day or night on 13 30 80.
  • Delete spam emails and do not open email attachments from strangers. Consider using a spam filter.
  • If you use a home wireless connection, take steps to ensure it is secured by enabling one of the available encryption methods.

Backed by NAB

We're also developed and backed by NAB - a bank that's been trusted by generations of Australians for 150 years. As you'd expect, over that time we've learnt a lot about security, and are always looking for new, innovative and robust ways to keep you and your money safe.
